Chapter and Verse on Islington u3a
First, a word from Antonia Benedek, our Chair.
When I became Chair of Islington u3a, I had no idea it would be so much fun. One of the slogans - ‘live, laugh, learn’ - was a bit of a clue.
Certainly, the team of volunteers I inherited as my Executive Committee are all individuals seriously committed to not only enjoying themselves – but to helping other members do the same.
With eighty-plus groups to choose from, members have every opportunity to enlarge on an earlier interest or take up something completely new - now that they have a bit more time. Do join us.

Our committee
Islington u3a is run by our executive committee who are all volunteers. The committee is made up of individuals elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting each November and who serve for the succeeding year. The committee members are the organisation's trustees. Committee meetings are held monthly and are minuted. For information on current members and their contact details, please see our contacts page.
Our constitution
As a charity registered in England, we are required by the charity commissioners to have a formal constitution. View the Islington u3a Constitution and accompanying explanatory Constitution Notes.
Our diversity commitment
In Islington u3a we’re committed to treating each other and the wider community with respect and without judgement or bias, regardless of race, religion, national origin, skin colour, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
Our financial structure
Islington u3a is a charity run entirely by its members, for its members. It is self-financing and does not accept any external funding. Nobody gets paid. As we like to say, it all depends on us. Members pay an annual fee to cover admin costs, primarily hire of venue spaces. It's an 'all inclusive' membership fee basis and entry is then free to most activities. Our annual general meetings (AGM)
These are held in November and all members are welcome to attend. The purpose is to keep members informed about the management of our u3a, give every member a voice and enable them to make decisions about the u3a, for elections to take place and to accept the annual report and accounts.
