This group meets to look at architecture in London and beyond: both recent, innovative designs and older, historic buildings. We will also look at the wider built environment and the way our city has developed. We explore design trends and the process from early brief through to the completed design and investigate the work of our great architects. This is done through walking tours to view the rich fabric of our city, as well as talks by designers and group discussions. Inaugural event
Friday 11th September, 12 noon. Cost: £10 per member.
We will shortly be arriving at ... Platform 37: This architectural walking tour of the Kings Cross area is led by Andy Roelofs, a knowledgeable and entertaining architect, and will include a look at some innovative buildings. These include the London Discovery Research Centre, intended for research into diseases of ageing and human biology, HOK/PLP’s Francis Crick Institute, and Platform 37, Google's huge new HQ, finally nearing completion, by Heatherwick. Andy will also talk about and explore Allies + Morrison’s Masterplan for the whole area.
We'll finish with a bit of social time in a local pub, where members can talk about what they hope to get from the group, and ideas for future events.

A detailed programme for the following six months is being developed. Events may include:
- Further walking tours eg the City; British Museum and Bloomsbury
- Talk on the development of London stations
- Talk by a local architect on modern domestic architectural design
- Visit to the Fine Rooms of the Royal Academy: open to the public from 16 December 2025 - 29 January
