This writing group focuses on the dynamics of fiction and is designed to help members develop their skills through practical, supportive exploration of the craft. Each month, exercises are sent out to group members on key aspects of fiction such as openings, scene description, dialogue, conflict, story versus plot, genre, pace, and narrative voice. Members circulate their written responses in advance of meetings, allowing time for reading and reflection. Meetings provide an opportunity to discuss the exercises, share constructive feedback, and talk more generally about the mechanics of writing. The group is run by Robert Royston, a writer, former journalist, and former publishers’ editor.
